  1. Letterpress Paper Doll Art Print - Now Available!

… or maybe I should write “Now found and available!”

Amazing what you find when you start unpacking a whole bunch of stuff that was in storage for 4 months. At the end of last year - right before Halloween - Crankbunny did a fun letterpress paper puppet doll workshop at Etsy. I found a few runs from this letterpress job - 12 to be exact!

I have decided to put them together as a limited edition and make them available to the public. 10 for the edition ( 2 AP will be for me me me).

These prints are rare. Crankbunny doesn’t really fumble around in the world of letterpress ( it’s a super amazing beautiful process - but my head needs to wrap itself around other things ). I do not have any plans in the future to do any more letterpress runs of this paper doll or any other dolls.

  2. Von Zos - Peter by Nomi Chi

Earlier this month (that calendar area around Valentine’s Day is really a blur..) I had a little hand helping and cutting the release of Nomi Chi’s first art multiple through Von Zos.

The illustrated piece is comprised of a free-standing cut-out figure on 24pt card stock. It stands approximately 10” in height and has so many intricately cut holes that it has an almost organic lace quality to it.

Peter is a signed edition of 25 and can be purchased at the Von Zos website before it sells out… if it already hasn’t!

Nomi Chi is a wonderful illustrator, artist and tattooist based out of Vancouver, BC Canada. I love all the nostalgic themes in her work.

You can check out more of her process and tattoo work on le twitter here and le instagram here.

  3. Everyone loves a makeover - even pop up greeting cards!

Nothing wrong with a little updating and finessing of a pop up card that is awesome — but could be even MORE awesome with tiny tweaks based on buyer input!** This winter I updated the very popular Butterfly pop up card.

    image

This pop up card is of a garden with a beautiful butterfly that flaps and flies when you pull a tab back & forth. The tab is a small hinged leaf which turns out. The largest leaf folds out to a white area where one can write something special.

    image

It is pretty much the same card - but I added some more garden artwork to the card. I also fixed some of the mechanical glitches that occur when having a pop up card with delicate moving paper parts.

    image

This standard greeting size (A7 5x7) popup card is handmade. It also now has a new emblem on the envelope with space for writing.

**Trust me, I totally take into consideration suggestions and dare I even mention complaints about my cards from customers. I also tend to notice how folks use the card, who it mostly gets sent to (you all tell me - and I love it) and what sort of folks are into it.

My obsession with random mid-century vintage playful doodads has no bounds folks. I created this card based on a short-lived interest **aka wormhole (thanks EBAY) ** in scenic linen postcards, stereo cameras, tower viewers and the almighty View-Master. There is something romantic about how folks use to take simple car trips for vacation each year. They would take a few fun stereo photos (it was a HUGE hobby back in the day) or buy postcards of kookie roadside attractions to remember the trip.

  8. This holiday season the fine folks at Von Zos decided to put out some wonderful Brian Ewing’s Bride of Frankenstein 3D paper ornaments! These ornaments are based on the SWANS / Art prints limited editions Brian put out this fall (2012) that sold out super dooper quick! Crankbunny had a little to do with the helping of cutting and snipping of these ornaments…snip snip snip snip.

More info below about the ornaments (they also are an limited edition of 50)! Von Zos presents an art multiple by Brian Ewing based on artwork he designed for a Swans show. The ornament consist of two separate pieces of card engineered and with precision to slot together perfectly into a 3D shape. 9. I’ve always wanted to make an advent calendar - but wasn’t too sold about the typical gingerbread house type of route. See, I love the holidays but I don’t consider myself a very christmas-y type person. The holidays for me means a month long wonderful affair of buying gifts, seeing family, cooking, eating and sharing with others. I wanted a calendar that was flexible for all faiths (or faithless) and not strictly dependent on one specific date. And then one night, Sandra came to me in a dream.

Sandra the Winter Forest Victorian Lady is a pop up 3D paper holiday advent calendar with a non-traditional folklore twist. Count down the holidays by hanging a new ornament off her reindeer antlers each day.

31 different holiday hanging ornaments are included with this advent calendar. Feel free to count down with the 24 days to a traditional Christmas - or - the entire month of the December to New Years Eve. Re-usable year after year! Looks wonderful on a mantel even after the holidays are finished.

Some simple assembly is required - instructions are included. This 3D pop up paper sculpture is fairly large. Size is 12 inches in height x 16 inches in length x 5 inches in depth and ships flat.
