    Back to normal?!! Getting there!

There is that expression “Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out!” and that is what one might consider what happen to me when I left NYC at the beginning of November. Orders and the huge move was delayed for a week because of Hurricane Sandy. Actually, the last few days in NYC weren’t so bad (got to visit, see, eat and laugh big one last time) - BUT - at that point I think I just surrendered to being totally exhausted, unwashed and functioning at 20% of my usual neurotic capacity.

The above scary photo is of the first few hours of unpacking after getting off a plane from NY! All the shop has been finally delivered by Fedex (UPS? No thanks!) and unpacked all nicely into a temporary work space for the winter. So - let’s get this party started!

**All orders placed between October 31 through November 13th have been shipped out! An email was sent out with each shipped order with all the shipping details. Please look in your trash / spam folder of the email account you checked out with if you are a customer going “Huhhhh, Where is my email?”.

**Still catching up with some few remaining email and shop to-dos - but want to thank everyone for their patience!

  6. Another Hurricane Sandy update
*aka*Where is my order? or Why hasn’t my order arrived?

Hurricane Sandy effects on the NY and NJ area started on October 28th. As you’ve seen on the news - this hurricane has affected many families and businesses.

We happen to be based in lower Manhattan in NYC. We and other surrounding businesses were without power, water, heat, and cell reception for 5 days - not to mention the gas shortage that occured. Trucks and delivery vans weren’t able to run their usual routes. The post office we use which is a block away was also affected and they were locked up for an entire week. No mail left or was received in that station since Sunday before Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast. They are still dealing with a backlog of a weeks worth of mail. Therefore there might be a delay in packages shipped out right before.

Please be patient and thank you for understanding.

US orders*You have a tracking number - Please use it to track your package.
*An email was sent out with this tracking information. If you did not receive it - please check your trash or spam folder. If it is an etsy order, check your purchases area for the tracking information.

International orders
*There is no tracking for international orders.
*Orders usually take 7 to 10 business days to arrive, but might take longer because of the hurricane and customs procedures which is out of our control.

ALL Orders placed before October 31st have been shipped out.

ALL Orders placed on October 31st and after will start shipping out November 14th from Florida.

**The photo above is my neighborhood bar Percy’s Tavern which ran a generator after the storm for days so everyone in the neighborhood could charge their phones and flashlights (everyone would walk uptown to then use their phones). It was taken at night with a fancy camera that has infared (that came in handy for 5 days at night). Percy’s used the generators also to light the intersection at night and give some safety to the corner. They did this for free and it was greatly appreciated considered once the sun went down the entire neighborhood was pitch black. I feel extremely grateful that our neighborhood has power again - but my thoughts are still with those who still don’t have power or have lost their homes.

  7. Another Hurricane Sandy update*

Am currently dealing with the power outage, no water, no cell situation in lower NYC because of Hurricane Sandy. Some orders have been cancelled (the ones that have not been given to the post office yet).

Post office in the lower NYC area that is used is currently locked down ( I live down the street and some workers have still showed up in the morning… but they don’t have power to open their truck gates.) No mail has left / been received in that station since Sunday before Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast. Therefore there might be a delay in packages shipped out right before.

Fingers crossed that power comes back to the neighborhood (east village, nyc) on Saturday night. There are tons of folks (including myself) living there still, waiting, and pitching out to help others in the neighborhood.

  8. Hurricane Sandy & Shop Orders

** Hurricane shipping delay information below **

Hurricane Sandy is expected to swirl into the Northeast USA Monday late afternoon October 29th. In the event the storm causes power failure and flooding in NYC because - all orders will be posted in the mail as soon as it is safe to do so.

I’ve gone through my share of hurricanes growing up in Florida so the storm isn’t a huge deal. It is though a matter of waiting to see where it goes (totally up to the storm) and dealing with the damage afterwards. Storm damage can effect shipping mail service with USPS. Planes and trucks will NOT travel through dangerous weather. Power outages do not allow packages to be processed. Please keep this in mind when placing an order and WAITING for your order to arrive.

Again because of the big upcoming move (read about it here) — All orders submitted before October 31st will go out as planned November 1st also. It’s expected that the post office should be open by then.

I could sit here for hours by type out a gazillion words of why and giving you my personal history with this big crazy city, but I’m gonna skip it. Even though I’m leaving, it’s safe to say I’m a New Yorker (going on 12+ years folks) and will always be one. New York City: the more things change the more they stay the same

The video clip is one of my favorite films “Manhattan Murder Mystery” by Woody Allen. The introduction uses Bobby Short’s version of Cole Porters “I Happen to like New York” ( a song I love to sing in the shower - you should try it ).
